One of the first things that caught my eye growing up was the physiques on those boxes in the store when we were kids. I was and am the kind of person that, anything I find alluring, interesting or sexy, more than I want that object, I want to become the object. That was also the first place that I had the liberty to decide what I wanted on my body, and I think that it's just grown from there.

If I'm deciding what mood I’m in, or what mood I feel like being in, clothes help me get there, all the way down to my undergarments. So I would definitely say that is the base level starting point, because that can get me going in either direction. I probably have, and I'm not being facetious, over two-hundred and fifty pairs of underwear. It's everything from boxers all the way down to unmentionables, so it goes the entire range. I want multiple colors of certain things that really fit and wear well. My favorite is a high rise, minimal, bikini brief. Outside of that, if it's a little bit more of a sexy time moment, definitely thongs for sure. But what I've discovered about thongs is it's really about the brand and about the quality of the thong. You can't just Amazon those.

My favorites right now are Etalon. It's the quality. It's the fit. It's the look. It's the colorways. They're good, though they don't have range just yet. The styles they do have, they're amazing. They haven't made more than occasional briefs.

Carter Wear has some amazing cuts. For men of color, Carterwear's going to have more shades that compliment our skin tone. So that's also a thing.

Outside of that, I would say Coyote Jocks. They have everything, so if you're going for more of a catch-all, high quality, and options, I would definitely say Coyote Jocks. 

2. Prostate Massager

This next thing would be more about exploration. When I was in my latter twenties, I was like, "[Sex toys] are stupid, I don't need to do all of that." Then I found a lot of value in alone time and what that can turn into. Someone convinced me to try one because it promoted prostate play and a handless orgasm. The fake butts. I don't have a particular brand. They offer all the different sizes from human to extraterrestrial concepts.

Fleshjack and fleshlight are the same company, it's just different target audiences. They've got the “come put your dick in this thing” down to a science. I will say that it's been enjoyable for me because of the sheer weight of it and the amount of interaction needed to stage and use it.

Just the Tips

There needs to be more awareness about toy maintenance and making sure that everything is medical grade silicone or body safe, especially with the rise of microplastics. There are studies trying to link microplastics to toys–more so, the breakdown of toys. So cleanliness, how you clean them, how you store them. All those things are important.

I also want anyone reading this to understand that however you chop this up, toys don't compare to another human. There are a lot of gripes some people have when they find out others have a toy thing. You shouldn't be comparing yourself to an inanimate object that I have to control or maneuver; those are two totally different things. They create an awareness of your specific pleasure and they heighten those things, but I think they make you a better lover.

My overall recommendation is just to explore when there are no eyes and no worry of performance. We get so focused on pleasing other people, which is good, but sometimes we don't fully investigate and educate ourselves on what our bodies can do. Know what your kinks are before you indulge with anyone else. There are no rules in that space.
